In the town of La Gardanne, near Aix en Provence, there is a wonderful fresh produce market held 3 times a week.
It was there that I found the cutest and smallest eggplants
I have ever seen....
“ Grown especially for a well known local chef ” the stallholder told me.
I had no idea what I was going to do with them but I knew they would help me create something
special and beautiful.

Dans la ville de La Gardanne, prés d'Aix en Provence, il y a un magnifique marché de produits frais que j'ai découvert grâce à une amie Australienne.
Là j'ai trouvé les plus petites aubergines jamais vues,
" cultivées pour un chef renommé " m'a dit le vendeur !
Des bras en haricots rouges et des fleurs de Tulbaghia, une plante décorative comestible dont les feuilles et les fleurs ont le goût d'ail et d'onion l'ont aidée à se tenir droite..
Et voilà " La Japonaise " était née..
